Emily turned 16 today!! Not sure how this happened?!? She has a huge heart for others and a giving spirit. I can’t wait to see the great things that this next year has in store for her.

Emily finished her sophomore year track season last week. She ran the 3200 except for the last meet that her coach let her do the 1600 and 800. She really didn’t know how to pace herself, but ended up getting a PR in both. It was great watching the kids hang out and just be kids.

Emily got Dale to take her out to practice driving with her permit. Braking and accelerating still feel like a bad roller coaster.

Emily had her final cross country meet this evening. This season was a difficult season for Emily. After having such a long time of no team running (she hates to run alone) and then when that started to have so many rules and regulations related to covid, it really took a toll on her. She lost her love of running. I was glad to see her have a love of running again tonight. She got out there and had fun and ran. Not a PR, but a fun and enjoyable run. A great way to end a rough season.

Super hot run last night for Emily. She placed 22nd in a full field of girls. She hates running in the heat.

Emily got to say goodbye to Mabel Jane (robot baby) this morning. She learned a lot through this experience. She handled all of the nighttime and daytime care of Mabel by herself and we would help out when she was going on a run or taking a shower. She admits that this project was putting someone completely before yourself and becoming aware of how difficult everything is when you are responsible for someone else. She didn’t want to have kids before this project and now she definitely doesn’t want kids. She got her grade today and received 100%. For the 3 days total she only let the baby cry a total of 8 minutes before responding.
