Emily had her final cross country meet this evening. This season was a difficult season for Emily. After having such a long time of no team running (she hates to run alone) and then when that started to have so many rules and regulations related to covid, it really took a toll on her. She lost her love of running. I was glad to see her have a love of running again tonight. She got out there and had fun and ran. Not a PR, but a fun and enjoyable run. A great way to end a rough season.

Super hot run last night for Emily. She placed 22nd in a full field of girls. She hates running in the heat.

Emily got to say goodbye to Mabel Jane (robot baby) this morning. She learned a lot through this experience. She handled all of the nighttime and daytime care of Mabel by herself and we would help out when she was going on a run or taking a shower. She admits that this project was putting someone completely before yourself and becoming aware of how difficult everything is when you are responsible for someone else. She didn’t want to have kids before this project and now she definitely doesn’t want kids.
She got her grade today and received 100%. For the 3 days total she only let the baby cry a total of 8 minutes before responding.

Emily had her first 5K of the season today. No PR today, but not horrible considering she has been up early with Mabel Jane (robot baby). She started her day at 3am. I will just tell her to sleep when the baby sleeps.

A little bit of normalcy for Emily today. She got her schedule, school id, yearbook, and to walk her classes. Ready for her sophomore year!

Today we celebrated Emily’s 15th birthday! Started the morning with donuts and then we went for a walk around the canal. We then made our way to monument circle and found the brick that was placed there in my dad’s honor. Later that afternoon, her cross country and track coach surprised her with a mini cake. We enjoyed an afternoon playing outside and “floating” in the mini pools. Now she keeps bringing up drivers ed. Help!! Not at all ready for all of this growing up stuff.

Emily had some friends over yesterday to celebrate her 15th birthday (her actual birthday is the 26th) and end of school/surviving this crazy covid stuff. Everyone had a great time and were so excited to see each other after weeks on lockdown. We had some wicked games of volleyball and tether ball. We sang happy birthday to Emily, Hannah, and Noah (the May birthday crew). There was also a water balloon toss that ended in a water balloon fight and no party would be complete without Harry Potter Uno and Mario Cart. It was amazing to have kids running around and being normal again. Today, David and I took Emily shopping and to lunch for some only child time.
