Invitational rained out this morning. They lined the kids up, got ready to start, and then the thunder and lightning. Lots of screaming and running cross country middle schoolers. It was humorous to hear that in the distance. We then all had a 10-minute walk in the pouring rain to the van. This will be something Emily will always remember. She was not happy taking a photo before the run and now I am glad it was taken because that was all we got today.

Emily ran her first invitational of the season. She made middle school varsity, but she wasn’t very happy with her time. She thought she could have done better. It was a very muddy slick run. She had her little sidekick Elias to cheer her on. He yells “go Emi go!!!”

It was great to hear Emily play her last orchestra concert this year. She played for both orchestra and chamber orchestra this year. It was difficult to explain to Elias that you can’t cheer Emily along during orchestra the same way you can for running. He kept yelling “Go Emily Go” every time he saw her playing. Pretty sure the people who sat in front of us hated us by the end.

4 years ago Emily started running. She was slow and didn’t want to get dirty. Today she runs both cross country and track and when not doing those is a junior coach for the place where her love of running started (Brownsburg Blaze). I am so proud of the young lady that she is becoming.

Emily had her spring concert this evening she has come so far in 18 months. It has been amazing to see the young lady she is growing into.
