Celebrating New Year’s Eve with my family making cookie/candy houses and toasting with bubbly.
December 1, 2018
We had a fun musical breakfast with Santa this morning. The kids all told Santa what they wanted for Christmas. Eli wants a sheep dog with no teeth to take care of all of our sheep (that we don’t have), Emerson wants a Nintendo Switch (not going to happen), Elise wants a chinchilla (again not going to happen), and Emily said clothes (I can work with that). This year they will learn that Santa says no too. They all had a lot of fun crafting, playing games, and in the very loud music room where they got to play all kinds of instruments.

David and the kids ran the Angry Turkey run this morning. It was a pretty cold run. They all had a lot of fun. The younger 3 kids ran the 1k. David and Emily ran the 5k. Emily now has bragging rights over David because she finished before him. She shaved a minute off of her time and David added about a minute to his time. Emily once again got 3rd place in her age group female. Elise and Emerson both got 1st place in their age group. Elias got 2nd place in his age group. The best part was spending time as a family and the donuts and hot chocolate at the end was a close second.

Enjoyed the special donut breakfast at school this morning with the boys. Elise helped work it with student council (and DeAnne too).

Fall break is over and I think the kids are ready to get back to a schedule. We had a couple of lazy weeks. We did the museum haunted house, Conner Prairie, Headless Horseman hayride, cousin sleepover, Wonder-lab, pumpkin carving, trunk or treat at a couple of churches, family photos, lots of pajama family time, and just plain outside fun playing.

Emily and David completed their first 5K race today at the Orchard Dash. Emily got third place for her age group (1-19) with a time of 28:52.32 and overall place of 53. David got third place for his age group (40-49) with a time of 26:55.19 and overall place of 33. There were over 355 participants.

Another season of Blaze (junior running club) has come to an end. David was a coach and Emily was a junior coach. Elise did great and she is really working on pushing herself out of her comfort zone. Emerson won the trophy for the little kids' high miles. He ran 40.5 this season and Elise ran 40.1. Emerson’s only goal was to beat Elise. He wants to run faster and further than her. Sibling competition runs high with him.

A little over a month ago we started giving our kitchen a facelift with new countertops and backsplash. We still need new hardware on the cabinets and some little things, but we are well on the way. David and I took on painting the downstairs, stairway, and upstairs hallway this week. Open concept floor plan... no real stopping and starting points so we just ran with it and painted everything. In the couple of months before we painted the laundry room, pantry, and downstairs bathroom. We still have a few more rooms to work on.

Busy week... Emily ran her final run with middle school cross country. She ran varsity at county and her team placed second. Emerson and Elise ran against other Brownsburg running groups. Emerson placed 7th for the 1 mile boys. Elise beat her own personal best. Elise had her final grade school performance and did great. Well Eli had to go watch and cheer everyone on; the hard part of being the youngest.
