First day of 8th grade, 5th grade, and kindergarten. I helped the kids find their classroom this morning at the elementary school and Emerson said he loved riding the bus. He was all smiles when I saw him. I have a little break at home with Eli and then I volunteered to help with kindergarten lunch. So, letting go is not my strength.

As we are starting to prep for school starting next week, I look back on all the fun we have had this summer with these crazy kids. There were moments I thought I may lose my mind with these crazy kids, but it has been wonderful. We have had a ton of pool days, Museum days, Conner Prairie days, and friend time. We also celebrated birthdays and had friends over for fun days. Elise went to Springhill and received recognition for her friendship with others. The boys went to a preschool VBS that Emily and I helped with. Add in the fair, Kids Planet, the big 3 attending a VBS, and lots of fun relaxing at home and we will call it the summer of 2018.

We had a great family getaway to Michigan. We had perfect beach days, explored the town and around the area, and got to pick peaches and blueberries (pretty sure Eli ate his weight in fruit).

We had a great time on our little getaway to Jellystone. Emerson loved gaga ball and the water park. Elias loved laying poolside and the jumping pillow. He was not a fan of the cold water on the slides. Emily and Elise loved the cabin loft and the water park. Everyone also enjoyed dinners by the fire, the golf cart, and the great nature hikes. We had a secluded cabin this time and none of the cabins down our road were occupied, so it made for some nice quiet (as you can get with 4 kids) time.

A week ago, we started the great room swap. The boys are now sharing a room and the girls have their own. The boys are doing well sharing a room. Eli is chatty when we put them to bed, but Emerson has been doing a good job ignoring him. Along with the room change, we painted all three rooms and scrubbed all the carpets. With cleaning out all the closets, we have discovered that we had a lot more junk than needed. Rooms are still messy and nothing on the walls, but they are a work in progress.

The kids had a great time riding the train at Sullivan’s Hardware tonight. It is a very cute little set up.
